Get to Know Natalie Prinkey, RTC April Member Spotlight
What Natalie Loves About RTC!
Natalie is coming up on her 2 year anniversary at RTC, and while she has tried “a lot of different fitness routines in the past,” she says that “nothing ever really stuck” until she came to RTC. “The workouts and the people (even grumpy Ang) keep me coming back for more!” she says. Natalie’s participation in a variety of classes, including Burn, Build, CrossFit, and L.I.F.E., has yielded impressive results. Over the past year, she has not only lost weight, but is most proud of the inches she’s lost and the strength and endurance she’s gained. “On the waist and hips alone, I’ve lost over 12 inches total. I love that there are so many class choices at RTC. It’s been very beneficial for me.”
Like most members, Natalie credits the RTC community for her success as well, calling it “one of the most amazing things I’ve been a part of.” She adds, “I’ve never felt more welcomed and comfortable in a fitness environment. It truly has been a saving grace for me to be able to walk through the doors and turn my brain off for a bit through some really tough stuff. Fitness definitely plays a big part in my mental health. The RTC community has encouraged me and pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of, and in turn, my confidence and mental health have greatly improved.”
Get to Know Natalie!
Natalie is a 6th grade math teacher at Green Intermediate School, and she LOVES her job! She is mom to Chloe, 22, who is an RN in Cleveland, and Travis, 15, a freshman at Hoover. She has 3 pups who she says “drive us crazy, but we couldn’t imagine our lives without their furry chaos!”
Fun Facts about Natalie!
- Favorite exercises: deadlifts, push press, kb swings, abs, row
- Least favorite exercises: the “b” word – burpees and thrusters
- Favorite food: I love salads. I try to eat one every day and never get sick of them!
- Favorite movie: Labyrinth
- Best vacation spot: anywhere near water
- People would be surprised to know that: I can play the drums.
- Something that always makes me smile: Watching my kids (just Travis now) play sports. I don’t know what else I would have done with my time over the years. I’ve always been their biggest and loudest fan.
- If I won the lotto I’d: I’d probably be spending it on traveling for my son’s basketball team or buying more books that I wouldn’t have time to read.
- Tell me you’re a teacher without telling me you’re a teacher: my unhealthy obsession with using a good pen and having a nicely sharpened wooden pencil
- A goal I’m working on is:
- Fitness – I’d love to get better on rig exercises. I’ve also been a bit intimidated with the gymnastics portions of CrossFit, so I’m hoping to get stronger and be more brave 🙂
- Non-fitness – I’ve recently been trying to learn how to crochet.
Congratulations to Natalie Prinkey!
