Clocking Time With…Zach Farelli

Get to Know Zach Farelli, RTC March Member Spotlight

What Zach Loves About RTC!

Zach Farelli joined RTC in February of 2023 after years of inconsistent workouts, which were usually comprised of Zach “running on and off through the summer, and then not doing much of anything in the winter.” His time at RTC has “completely changed” Zach’s perspective about working out. “Before joining, I remember feeling the most out of shape I had ever been,” says Zach. “Thanks to RTC, I’ve done a total 180. After a few months of training, I went on my first run of the year. I remember that run being faster and easier than any of my runs in the last 7 years or so. It felt extremely encouraging.”

Zach credits his newfound consistency to both the coaches and the RTC community. “Since day one, I’ve always felt welcomed,” he says.” “The gym has become a very safe place to me, and I always look forward to coming. I think the people in the gym are the main reason I’ve been able to be consistent. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone, and it feels good to be part of a great community. The coaches are also excellent. Every coach is knowledgeable and I love that I learn something new in every workout, whether it’s a new cue that helps something click, the encouragement during workouts, or just poking fun at anything the Browns do. The members and coaches make the journey that much more fun and definitely play a major role in me wanting to show up.”

Get to Know Zach!

Zach has worked for a small structural engineering firm in Akron since 2020. He and wife Steph have been married since November 2018, and they live happily with their 2 dogs, Saige and Josie. “I love to hunt, and Josie is my hunting buddy,” says Zach. “We mainly hunt game birds together.” The Farellis love the outdoors and camping out of their van, which they converted to a tiny camper. “Usually, we go places where I can fish and the dogs can run free and burn off energy,” says Zach.

Fun Facts about Zach!

  • Favorite exercise: Running
  • Least favorite exercise: Thrusters
  • Favorite food: Coffee (Just kidding…not really kidding, but I’m guessing that doesn’t count) I really love a good burger.
  • Favorite movie: Saving Private Ryan
  • Best vacation spot: Wyoming
  • People would be surprised to know that: I love fly fishing and I really enjoy tying my own flies. I also really like playing video games, and I’m newly (about 1 year in) obsessed with the Star Wars universe.
  •  Something that always makes me smile: Sipping coffee with my wife in the early morning at our campsite before we start that day’s adventure. Also, standing in a stream not being able to hear anything but the water rushing while trout fishing.
  • If I won the lotto I’d: Donate to a good charity as well as good wildlife conservation efforts.
  • Thoughts about the CF Open: I love the Open! This is only my 2nd Open, but after last year’s, I’m hooked. I love the way that everyone rallies around people, and the environment just really makes you want to dig deep and push yourself.
  • A goal I’m working on is: With the weather finally changing, I’m excited to get back to running. I want to improve my cardio.

Congratulations to Zach Farelli!
