RTC Fitness offers youth strength training in North Canton, Ohio for athletes ages 7–16 through our Summer Strength & Speed program. Starting June 1, 2026, we’re running 11 weeks of coach-led training across three program tracks — Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Small Group — with sessions available Monday through Friday. If you’re looking for a structured, supervised summer training program for your young athlete in the North Canton or greater Canton area, here’s everything you need to know.

Youth athletes who train with purpose over the summer don’t just stay in shape — they come back to their fall season stronger, faster, and further ahead than their peers. This program is built to make that happen.

Youth Strength Training in North Canton, Ohio — What We Offer

RTC Fitness has been serving the North Canton community for nine years. Our youth training program isn’t a side offering — it’s a core part of what we do, built on the belief that the habits, movement patterns, and confidence developed in youth training carry athletes for the rest of their lives.

The Summer Strength & Speed program runs June 1 through mid-August. All sessions are held at RTC Fitness in North Canton and are staffed by coaches from start to finish. Every athlete trains on programming designed around their sport and goals — not a generic group circuit.

We offer three tracks:

  • Junior Varsity — ages 7–11 | afternoon and evening sessions
  • Varsity — ages 12–16 | Tuesday & Thursday afternoons
  • Small Group Training — all ages | individualized, sport-specific | Monday–Friday mornings

Why Youth Strength Training in Summer Makes a Difference

The offseason isn’t really an offseason anymore — not for athletes who want to compete at a high level. Fall tryouts, spring showcases, and year-round club sports mean that the athletes who use summer intentionally are the ones who show up to the first practice looking different.

But there’s a right way and a wrong way to train young athletes in the summer.

The wrong way: high-volume, sport-specific repetition without a foundation of strength or movement quality. That’s how you get overuse injuries and burnout.

The right way: progressive strength and speed development, coached closely, built on fundamentals — so the gains actually transfer when the season starts.

That’s the philosophy behind every session at RTC Fitness. Whether your athlete is 7 years old and learning how to squat for the first time, or 16 years old preparing for a varsity season, the approach is the same: build the foundation, develop the athlete, make it sustainable.

The offseason isn’t really an offseason anymore — not for athletes who want to compete at a high level. Fall tryouts, spring showcases, and year-round club sports mean that summer training has become one of the most important differentiators between athletes at the same level.

Junior Varsity — Ages 7–11

What It Is

Junior Varsity is our foundational program for younger athletes. The focus is on teaching proper movement mechanics and the basics of strength training before bad habits develop. First half of every session covers strength fundamentals. Second half covers speed and agility work.

This is not a recreational program. Athletes are coached, corrected, and progressed. The goal is to build a foundation that will serve them for the rest of their athletic career.

Schedule

  • Afternoon: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday | 12:30 – 1:15 PM
  • Evening: Tuesday & Thursday | 5:30 – 6:15 PM

The evening sessions were added specifically for families who can’t make afternoon times work. Same coaching, same programming, different time slot.

Pricing

  • JV: 3x/week: $149 per 4-week cycle
  • 2x/week: $109 per 4-week cycle
  • 6-class punch card: $135
  • Drop-in: $25 (RTC members only)
  • Summer Bundle (M/T/Th full season): $299 — paid in full by May 22

Varsity — Ages 12–16

What It Is

Varsity is for the older athlete who is ready to train with real structure and real expectations. Sessions are coach-led and follow a consistent format: the first half of every class is dedicated to strength work, the second half to speed development.

Programming progresses across all 11 weeks, building on itself so that by the time fall season starts, your athlete is in the best physical condition of their life. Modifications are available for athletes managing injuries or specific limitations — just communicate with your coach before the session.

Schedule

  • Tuesday & Thursday | 12:30 – 2:00 PM

Pricing

  • 2x/week: $169 per 4-week cycle
  • 6-class punch card: $165
  • Drop-in: $30 (RTC members only)
  • Summer Bundle (T/Th full season): $399 — paid in full by May 22

Small Group Training — All Ages, Monday Through Friday

What It Is

Small Group is the most individualized training we offer at RTC Fitness. Athletes are placed into one of three overlapping groups and train for one focused hour with a coach on the floor from start to finish.

Unlike Varsity and Junior Varsity — which follow a structured class format — Small Group athletes train on programming written specifically for their sport, their position, and their goals. A soccer player and a football player in the same group may be running completely different programs. That level of specificity is what makes Small Group different.

When your athlete’s session ends, open gym is available — they can work on skills, recover, or continue training with appropriate supervision.

Schedule

  • Group A: 10:00 – 11:00 AM | Monday – Friday
  • Group B: 10:45 – 11:45 AM | Monday – Friday
  • Group C: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Monday – Friday

Groups are structured to overlap intentionally, allowing athletes to arrive and depart at different times while maintaining a focused training environment for each group.

Pricing

  • 3x/week: $540 per 4-week cycle
  • 2x/week: $380 per 4-week cycle
  • Summer Bundle (M–F full season): $1,279 — paid in full by May 22

The Summer Bundle — Best Pricing of the Year

The Summer Bundle is available to families who register and pay in full by May 22, 2026. It covers the full 11-week program at a flat rate — the lowest pricing we offer all year.

  • Junior Varsity (M/T/Th all summer): $299
  • Varsity (T/Th all summer): $399
  • Small Group (M–F all summer): $1,279

* Only available when paid in full by May 22, 2026.
After that date, Cycle-to-Cycle billing only (4-week cycles).

If you miss the bundle deadline, all three programs are still available on a Cycle-to-Cycle basis — billed every 4 weeks with no long-term commitment.

What to Expect at RTC Fitness

Coaching

Every session at RTC Fitness is staffed by coaches — not monitors, not supervisors, coaches. They know your athlete’s name, their sport, and what they’re working toward. That relationship is part of the program.

Schedule Flexibility

We understand that summer schedules change. If your athlete has a tournament, vacation, or conflict during the summer, give us 5 days’ notice and we will move or reassign them to a different session. We’re not going to let scheduling logistics get in the way of your athlete showing up.

Injuries and Modifications

All programs include modifications for athletes managing injuries or physical limitations. Communicate with your coach before the session and we’ll adjust accordingly.

Can Athletes Do More Than One Program?

Yes. Some athletes participate in both Small Group and a Varsity or JV session. Talk to us about your athlete’s schedule and goals and we’ll help you figure out what makes sense.

If you want your athlete to be in that group, we’d love to have them at RTC Fitness this summer.
