Before coming to RTC 3 years ago, Michelle Kiefer stayed active with yoga, and says she “loves to try new things when it comes to fitness.” She started her CrossFit journey in 2010 after giving birth to daughter Emma. “I didn’t go to a traditional box,” she says. “I worked at a police department and my Lt. was certified, so we started a group that would do the WODs at lunch with minimal equipment in a basic gym setting. When we moved back to Ohio, I stepped away from CrossFit to a more HIIT type gym, but it just wasn’t the same!”
She came to RTC with no specific goals other than “staying healthy and active,” but says she has noticed improvements in her abilities and overall health, which has kept her excited to keep improving! “I now have goals to get certain movements down, no matter how long it may take me to do it!” she says. She credits the “incredible support, friendship, and constant motivation” of the RTC community for pushing her to improve. “I would definitely hold myself back more than I already do without the push and encouragement of other members,” she says, “and I’m constantly wowed by watching and learning from others.” Describing herself as “pretty shy and nervous,” Michelle feels that RTC has become a place where she feels “totally at home.” “I look forward to going as much as possible. My mental health is always improved by the camaraderie in classes!”
Michelle is married to fellow member Shawn Kiefer, and together they have a daughter, Emma, and a “small zoo” of animals which includes 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 ducks, 6 chickens, as well as 1 bunny, 1 turtle, and 1 fish. Michelle works at a small financial advisor’s firm in Green.
Congratulations Michelle!
