What Bruce Loves About RTC!

Bruce came to RTC in August of 2021, and was immediately struck by the friendliness and support of the RTC community.  He credits the “knowledgeable and professional” coaches with helping him to improve his performance and increase his strength and capacity.  Bruce also recently participated in the “Nutrition Kickstart Challenge,” which he found to be “very educational regarding portion control and what foods to eat.”  “We don’t realize how much we overeat!” he says.  “I lost 13 pounds in 28 days, and with Coach Allie’s help, I’m now continuing a plan to increase my overall strength.  I’m loving every minute of it!”

At age 67, Bruce has embraced his retirement years, which have energized and rejuvenated him, and given him more time to focus on his health and activities that bring him joy.  “I love being retired, and highly recommend it!” he says.  “I’m shocked when someone says they’re retired and bored.  I find being retired allows me to plan my time for me.  That is why I am able to put more time into CrossFit and working out.  It’s now my lifestyle and I’m a lot more active than I used to be.  I always have something to do, whether I’m working around the house on projects, pursuing my hobbies, or spending time with family and friends. Our time is short in this world… use it wisely!”

Get to Know Bruce!

Bruce graduated from East Canton High School and attended Columbus State for a short time. He spent over 40 years in the automotive industry, first with OEConnection, next with Snap-on Business Solutions, and then finished his career with Dealer Tire in Cleveland. He and Judy, his wife of 32 years, have a daughter Megan, a son-in-law Joe, and 2 “entertaining” grandsons, Mason, 17, and Lucas, 14.  The Fishers also have 2 cats, Bill and Ted. Ted enjoys spending summer evenings on the deck with Bruce, and Bill’s nickname is “Billie Bad Ass,” which tells you all you need to know about Bill!  Bruce is an avid fisherman.  “I love going to Lake Erie for walleye during spring and fall, and recently started pursuing steelhead trout in the Lake Erie tributaries,” he says.  He also wants to begin fly rod fishing, as well.  He and Judy have recently started a new venture selling wreaths at craft shows.  Their business is called “Happy Ass Designs.”
